Cozify Introduces a Real-Time Electricity Consumption Reader Designed for the Nordics

Cozify has launched a new real-time electricity consumption reader, introducing an innovative way for households to track and manage their energy usage. The new Cozify HAN device measures both electricity consumption and any potential surplus energy production. Surplus production occurs, for example, when solar panels generate more electricity than the household consumes.
Consumption and surplus energy can be monitored using the free Cozify HAN app, available for download in app stores. The app displays real-time electricity usage, consumption changes, and costs based on both fixed and dynamic electricity pricing. Users can analyze the power consumption of devices in standby mode or during operation—both in kilowatts and euros—on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. This enables smarter energy optimization and helps identify unnecessary energy-draining devices.

Cozify HAN is connected to the electric meter’s HAN port.
”We developed the Cozify HAN with the unique requirements of Nordic conditions in mind. Electrical main distribution panels in buildings are often located outdoors, sometimes tens of meters away from residential areas, meaning they must withstand freezing temperatures and maintain strong connectivity indoors. If needed, an external antenna can be added to improve WiFi reception, and the device can also be connected via a wired network.
Additionally, we have developed APIs that allow partners to utilize real-time consumption data for various smart energy services, such as intelligent EV charging. Cozify HAN now offers these capabilities at a significantly lower cost than previous solutions”, says Cozify chief technology officer Remo Kallio.
Monitor Your Main Fuse Usage in Real Time
With the Cozify HAN app, users can see in real time if any phase of their electrical connection is approaching maximum load. This information helps users distribute their electricity consumption more evenly across different phases, ensuring optimal use of available capacity.

Cozify HAN -mobile app tells the phase specific real time usage of the main fuses.
”Monitoring the phase-by-phase usage of main fuses helps prevent fuse blowouts. This can occur, for instance, when an electric vehicle is charging simultaneously with the heating of sauna and dinner cooking in the oven.
Users can also prepare for the upcoming power-based electricity pricing model that will affect more consumers in the coming years by identifying and balancing their peak energy consumption”, says Cozify CEO Mikael Stendahl.
Developed in Collaboration with Finnish Power Grid Companies
Cozify HAN has been developed in collaboration with leading Finnish power grid companies, including: Elenian, Vantaan Energia Sähköverkot Oy and Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko Oy.
The device is compatible with new HAN-port-enabled smart meters, which are being installed in Finnish households as part of the national electricity metering upgrade initiative, set to be completed by 2030. Companies like Elenia and Vantaan Energia Sähköverkot Oy have already made significant progress in installing these meters, with most households having received the new smart meter.
”With a HAN-connected reader, our customers can access real-time electricity usage data and manage their consumption more efficiently. With Cozify HAN, customers can unlock additional benefits from the next-generation smart meters” says Elenia’s Grid & Partnership Manager Harri Salomäki.
Coming soon to countries outside Finland
Support for other countries' electricity meter standards is also in works and will be available soon upon request.
Automation Solutions Based on Electricity Consumption

Cozify provides comprehensive home and building automation solutions, as well as integration interfaces for additional devices and software partners. When the Cozify HAN is connected to a Cozify smart hub, real-time consumption data can be used to automate heating and charging devices controlled via smart relays in the electrical cabinet, as well as integrated EV chargers.
