Exciting SmartEnergy Trends and Outlook for 2025
After a brief winter break, we have entered 2025 and eagerly anticipate the exciting new releases and innovations it promises to bring. The year 2024 was transformative for Cozify that marked significant milestones for us, including the development of two entirely new products: the Cozify HAN as well as the Cozify SmartEnergy Aggregator.
What is Cozify HAN?
HAN stands for Home Area Network, a standard feature in the new generation of smart electricity meters being rolled out to households across many countries in the coming years.
We developed the Cozify HAN in collaboration with three leading Finnish electricity grid companies; Elenia, Vantaan Energia Sähköverkot Oy, Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko Oy. Now, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re just around the corner from launching it to the market! The first production batch, already sold out, have already arrived from the factory. Once we complete the on-going final quality assurance testing, we’ll begin shipping to pre-order customers. We look forward to seeing these devices in action in homes across the country.
What does the Cozify HAN do?
The Cozify HAN device, featured on our website, pairs seamlessly with the new dedicated Cozify HAN app - to be available for iOS and Android along the product's release.
In brief, this small yet powerful device gives you real-time insights into your home’s electricity consumption and any excess production flowing in or out of your electricity meter. We’ve tested it with several market-leading smart meters equipped with HAN ports, and it’s designed to be compatible with any new meters that follow the HAN standard.

The app not only displays your electricity usage in technical terms like kW, kWh, Volts, and Amperes but also translates this data into simple, easy-to-understand Euro values, allowing you to see how your energy consumption impacts your finances.
With this tool, you will gain a deeper understanding of which devices or appliances consume the most electricity and when. You can identify constant, low-level consumption (even when devices are idle) and take steps to minimize waste. This knowledge empowers you to:
- Shift your energy usage to cheaper hours.
- Avoid unnecessary idle consumption.
- Manage high-energy consumption tasks within your home’s capacity limits.
More importantly, for all of you B2B partners, in order to bring these services to as many customers as possible, we have built capabilities for those of you that want to enrich your own business and services with a professional HAN reader. We support the most common APIs and standards in order to integrate the realtime electricity consumption and main fuse utilization ratio into any SmartElectricity service you want to build. SmartEnergy Outlook for 2025
Many of you may be aware of the marketing around batteries and the potential to earn by participating in the energy reserve market, where grid companies compensate those who can adjust their electricity consumption as needed whenever supply does not meet demand in the electricity network. This is an increasing challenge as the share of varying, unpredictable electricity production, such as solar and wind, grows in the network.
Supply = Demand. Electric grid needs to be in balance to achieve its functional state.
Cozify has been part of two development projects focused on contributing to the electricity reserve market, not just using batteries, but also leveraging existing infrastructure. These include larger electricity-consuming devices in buildings, such as electric water boilers, electric heat pumps, and other HVAC appliances.
With our Cozify smart hubs, we can control these devices and optimize their usage to save and even earn money based on SPOT pricing and the electricity reserve market. By utilizing our new SmartEnergy Aggregator, we can combine multiple devices or buildings to meet the minimum requirements set by grid companies, specifically 100-1000kW of consumption adjustable up or down depending on demand.
Pilot ready SmartEnergy offering
We have completed phase one of this SmartEnergy Aggregator setup and are pilot ready. We are now actively seeking partners to bring these solutions to the market.
